Living

Place based dances for changing shores. In April 2022 we will be staging our second iteration of These Lines Are Living, a performance journey at Bay Area Shorelines, presented by the Animate Dance Festival.

An inter-generational movement at the shifting shore, this project unfolds at an intersection of landscape, climate science, community practice, live music and dance. This includes a special collaboration with the Shawl Anderson Youth Ensemble.

ECOLOGY OF PLACE

The shore is shifting - this project is an art and science collaboration into what was, what is, and what is coming. Come explore the land at the Marin Headlands through various timescales and cultural lenses.  This project intersects performance, climate adaptation strategies, creative cartographies, and participation.

EXPERIENTIAL PERFORMANCE

Experience and participate in the rituals and actions that create the landscape through our imaginations in physical space. Fog Beast will bring dance, song, visual and media arts into the elements, creating a sensorially diverse experience for audience participants.

EMPOWERING YOUTH FOR ART AND CLIMATE

From a long history of working in educational settings, Fog Beast is engaging youth dance groups from around the bay in the development and performance of this work. Honoring these young artists not merely as “students” but as key players, generators and world shapers of a future that is theirs to inhabit.
